Apple Butter

1 gallon applesauce
6 cups sugar
2 cups cider
8 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. cloves
Place all ingredients in sauce pan. Simmer for three hours.

(The following is for oven method)

7 lb. apples (16 cups)
3 lb. brown sugar
1 cup vinegar or cider
2 tbsp. cinnamon

Cook apples until soft and put through sieve. Add remaining ingredients and put into a pan with lid in oven. Bake 3 hours at 350 degrees. Stir occasionally. Pour into jars and seal. Makes 5 quarts.
