Recipe - Casseroles 019
Whole Meal Casserole

1 lb. lean ground beef
1/2 cup butter or margarine
1 cup chopped white onions
1 small can tomato paste
1 small can tomato sauce
1 cup grated American cheese
1 8-oz. package noodles
Melt butter or margarine in large skillet. Saute onions for about five minutes or until soft. Add meat and cook until done in appearance, about 20 minutes. Cook slowly so as not to burn. Drain off any excessive grease which may have accumulated while cooking meat.

Add tomato paste and tomato sauce. Stir together and cook for about ten minutes, or until well blended. Add cheese and stir gently. Cook slowly for twenty minutes longer. Add salt and pepper to taste.

Boil noodles in salted water, according to package directions. Do not overcook. Drain. Place in buttered baking dish. Stir in meat sauce. Sprinkle additional American cheese over the top and run in the oven just until cheese melts and is lightly browned.

YIELD: 6 servings
