County Fair Corn Dogs

1/3 cup corn meal
2/3 cup flour
1 Tablespoon brown sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1 beaten egg
2 Tablespoon oil
1/2 cup milk
1 Tablespoon prepared mustard
1 lb. weiners (plain or turkey)
flour
oil for frying
Combine dry ingredients. Add egg, oil, milk and mustard. Mix well. Insert wooden skewers (or new popsickle sticks) lengthwise into weiners. Coat weiners with flour, then dip into batter, coating well. Fry in deep, hot oil (375* F) for 2-3 minutes or till golden brown. You can use this coating with about anything you would deep fry, zucchini, green tomatoes, string cheese, eggplant, mushrooms etc.
